In 1994, Major Boothby completed his assignment as RIFLE Company Commander, 1st BN, 6th Marine Regiment and was assigned to Scout Sniper Instructor School as Officer In Charge.  While there, he was responsible for the doctrine and training of the US Marine Corps Scout Sniper Community:

  • Directed and edited the rewriting of all Scout Sniper publications and the Scout Sniper Warfighting 3-15.3 Manual
  • Awarded Commendation Medal for sustained superior performance
 

Major Boothby's distinguished active duty career spanned twenty years of dedicated service and included no less than twenty-five military training schools. 

During his service, Major Boothby also dedicated himself to his pursuit of education and received a BA in Political Science and an MA in International Studies with a Graduate Certificate in Spanish.

Before retiring from active duty service, Boothby also coached the UNC Men's Rugby team to a National Ranking in the Elite 8.
